Feelings vs. Obedience

One of the clearest reminders from the Focus series is this: feelings respond to situations, but obedience responds to instruction. Feelings are real, but they were never meant to be the steering wheel of our faith. In Luke 6:46, Jesus asks a direct question “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?” not to condemn, but to clarify. Following God isn’t about reacting to how we feel in the moment; it’s about responding to what He has already spoken. When feelings lead, we often hesitate. When obedience leads, we move.
Obedience doesn’t ignore emotion, it just refuses to let emotion decide. This is where focus becomes practical. Every day presents moments where we can either react emotionally or respond faithfully.
Action step:
Today, identify one situation where your emotions usually take the lead. Before responding, pause and ask, What instruction from God applies here?
Choose obedience, even if it feels uncomfortable.
And as we continue learning how to live this out together, we invite you to worship freely in God with us this Sunday at Liberty Worship Christian Center.
