You Can’t Think Like Bondage and Live Like Freedom

Freedom is more than a moment. It is a mindset.
Many people ask God to change their life, but never allow Him to change their thinking. We pray for new seasons while holding onto old mentalities. We ask for peace while replaying fear. We ask for healing while agreeing with the pain that hurt us. Sometimes the greatest prison is not around us. It is within us.
Scripture
Colossians 3:2 says:
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
God is teaching us that freedom starts in the mind. Before your life changes outwardly, your thoughts must be renewed inwardly. Before habits break, patterns of thinking must break. Before you walk differently, you must think differently.
Old Thoughts Can Keep New People Bound
You can leave a toxic season and still carry toxic thinking.
You can leave fear physically and still let fear make decisions.
You can leave the relationship, the habit, the disappointment, or the pain—but if your mind stays there, part of you stays there too.
That is why some people are free in position, but still bound in practice.
God may have brought you out, but now He wants to bring the old thinking out of you.
Every Thought Does Not Deserve Residence
Not every thought belongs in your head.
Some thoughts need to be challenged. Some thoughts need to be surrendered. Some thoughts need to be replaced with truth.
When thoughts say, I’ll never change, God says you are being renewed.
When thoughts say, Nothing good is ahead, God says He has purpose for your future.
When thoughts say, I’ll always be this version of me, God says behold, all things can become new.
Freedom Has to Be Practiced
Real freedom is not pretending struggles don’t exist. Real freedom is refusing to let old thoughts lead your new life.
You may still have battles, but battles do not have to own you.
You may still have memories, but memories do not have to manage you.
You may still feel pressure, but pressure does not define your identity.
Pause + Reflect
What thought pattern keeps pulling me backward?
Where is God asking me to think higher than fear?
What truth from Scripture do I need to agree with today?
Action Step (Do This Today)
Write down one recurring negative thought that has been following you.
Then write one biblical truth beside it and speak that truth out loud today every time the old thought returns.
Worship With Us
