Stop Acting Like You Have No Power

There are moments in life when pressure tries to convince you that you're powerless.

The bills pile up. The diagnosis arrives. The relationship becomes difficult. The uncertainty grows louder than your faith.

And before long, many believers begin living as if God has abandoned them, forgotten them, or left them to figure everything out on their own.

But the resurrection tells a different story.

Scripture

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you."

- Acts 1:8 (KJV)

God never promised a life without pressure.

He promised His presence in the middle of it.

The Power You Already Carry

One of the most dangerous lies the enemy tells believers is that they are weak, helpless, and defeated.

Yet Jesus promised His followers something extraordinary before He ascended into heaven. He promised power.

Not temporary emotion.

Not inspiration that lasts for a Sunday service.

Power.

The Greek word used in Acts 1:8 is dunamis, meaning divine ability, miraculous force, and supernatural strength.

That means when the Holy Spirit lives inside of you, there should be evidence that something has changed.

Power is not proven by how loudly we worship.

Power is revealed in how differently we live.

Real Power Change How You Respond

Power shows up when fear doesn't control your decisions.

Power shows up when anxiety doesn't get the final word.

Power shows up when disappointment doesn't cause you to quit.

Many people are waiting for a dramatic spiritual experience while overlooking the evidence of God's power already working in their lives.

If God brought you through difficult seasons before, why are you acting like He cannot provide again?

If He healed before, why are you acting like He cannot heal now?

If He opened doors before, why are you acting like He cannot make a way this time?

The same God who carried you through your last battle has not lost His strength.

Stop Focusing on What You Don't Have

Sometimes we become so consumed by what is missing that we forget who is present.

God never asked us to figure everything out.

He asked us to trust Him.

Faith does not require complete understanding.

Faith requires obedience.

While you're trying to solve every problem, God is often already working behind the scenes on your behalf.

Your responsibility is not to carry the weight of the world.

Your responsibility is to walk in the power He has already provided.

Pause + Reflect

  • Where have I been acting powerless instead of walking by faith?

  • What situation am I trying to control instead of trusting God with?

  • What evidence of God's faithfulness have I forgotten?

Action Step (Do This Today)

Write down three situations where God has provided, protected, healed, or sustained you in the past.

Then spend time thanking Him for what He has already done before asking Him for what you need next.

Let your memory strengthen your faith.
