It’s Time to Lock In: Regain Your Focus and Run the Race God Gave You

Scripture:
“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:1–2 (KJV)
There comes a time when you have to stop and ask yourself:
“What has my attention?”
There are so many things competing for our attention—our phones, social media, responsibilities, finances, relationships, fear, anxiety, and the things we have been through.
We can become so focused on everything happening around us that we miss what God is doing within us.
The battle for your attention matters because whatever dominates your attention will influence your direction.
It’s Time to Lock In
Hebrews tells us to lay aside every weight and run the race that is set before us.
Notice that it says your race.
You don't have to run somebody else's race.
You don't have to compare your progress to someone else's.
You don't have to be distracted by what everyone else is doing.
God has given you a race to run, and you have to stay focused on what He has called you to do.
Sometimes the enemy doesn't have to destroy you.
He only has to distract you.
Distraction can slowly affect your prayer life, your worship, your time in God's Word, your consistency, and your pursuit of what God has placed in you.
You can drift without realizing you moved.
That's why this is the time to lock in.
Not because everything is easy.
Not because you have every answer.
But because your race is still worth running.
Focus on What God Is Doing In You
You may have started the year with excitement, but excitement is not the same as endurance.
Maturity is revealed by what you remain faithful to after the feeling changes.
There will be seasons when you don't feel motivated.
There will be days when you are tired.
There will be moments when you don't understand what God is doing.
But you cannot allow your feelings to determine your faithfulness.
Keep praying.
Keep worshiping.
Keep believing.
Keep showing up.
Keep running.
And when you don't know what to focus on, fix your eyes on Jesus.
Pause + Reflect
What has been receiving most of your attention lately?
Is it helping you move closer to God, or is it distracting you from what He has called you to do?
Ask God honestly:
“Lord, help me recognize what has been distracting me and bring my attention back to You.”
Then listen.
You may discover that the next step isn't doing more.
It may simply be getting focused again.
Action Step (Do This Today)
Take a few minutes today and identify one thing that has been distracting you from God.
Write it down.
Then choose one practical way to redirect your attention.
Maybe it's putting your phone down and praying.
Maybe it's returning to God's Word.
Maybe it's getting back into consistent worship.
Maybe it's reconnecting with the church.
Maybe it's simply giving God your attention before you give your attention to everything else.
Don't try to fix everything at once.
Lock in on the next step.
Your race is still in front of you.
