When You Encounter Christ, Something Should Be Different

Scripture:
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
An encounter with Christ should change something.
Not just how you feel on Sunday.
Not just what you say you believe.
Not just the words you use when you pray.
Being In Christ Should Change How You Live
To be in Christ means more than identifying as a Christian.
It means being connected to Him.
The sermon described it as being engrafted into Christ, connected to Him like a branch connected to a tree.
When we are truly connected to Christ, His presence should become visible in our lives.
People should see something different.
Not because we are perfect.
Not because we never struggle.
But because Christ is changing us.
Sometimes we want the benefits of being connected to Christ without allowing Him to change the things in us that need to change.
We want peace, but don't want to surrender control.
We want spiritual growth, but don't want to confront old habits.
We want God's promises, but don't want to release the patterns that keep pulling us backward.
But being in Christ means allowing Him to work on us.
It means examining ourselves.
It means laying aside the weights that keep slowing us down.
It means recognizing that some things may not necessarily be sin, but if we continue carrying them, they can eventually lead us away from God.
If Christ is changing you, you cannot keep feeding everything that belongs to the old you.
Pause + Reflect
Where is God showing you that something in your life needs to change?
Are there old habits, attitudes, relationships, or patterns that you continue to feed?
Are you allowing Christ to change you, or are you trying to hold onto parts of the old life?
Ask God honestly:
“Lord, show me what needs to change in me.”
Then listen.
Don't look around at everyone else.
Start with yourself.
Action Step (Do This Today)
Take a few minutes today and ask God to reveal one area of your life that needs to change.
Write it down.
Then ask yourself:
“What am I feeding that needs to be surrendered to God?”
Choose one practical step.
Maybe it's spending more time in God's Word.
Maybe it's changing who you allow to influence you.
Maybe it's forgiving someone.
Maybe it's letting go of an old habit.
Maybe it's finally surrendering something you've been trying to control.
Don't try to change everything at once.
Start with obedience in the area God is putting in front of you today.
Give it to God and allow Him to work in you.
Remember, you don't have to be perfect for God to use you.
You have to be willing.
